NewCare

The Little Clinic is staffed by board-certified and licensed Nurse Practitioners (NPs) and Physician Assistants (PAs) specializing in family practice.  The NP provides all services in the clinic including diagnosing and treating common illnesses and minor injuries, prescribing medications, and interpreting laboratory results.

The NPs and PAs are supported by an overall Chief Medical Officer, regional medical directors, and local collaborating physicians.  All nurse practitioners and physician assistants work in collaboration or under the supervision of a collaborating physician specializing in primary care. The collaborating physician is available to support the practitioners at all times telephonically and is also actively engaged in the quality assurance process through phone consultation, chart reviews, performance evaluations,  and on-site visits to the clinic.

Convenient

The primary element of The Little Clinic is offering convenient care to patients.  No appointments are required, and patients typically have little to no wait time.  The service menu is specifically designed to limit the patient encounter to 15 minutes in length.  The clinics are open days, evenings, and weekends.  The clinics are located inside of neighborhood supermarkets that have pharmacies.  By adding healthcare to the list of services this one-stop shopping destination offers, the clinics increase patient convenience (which is the primary driver of consumer satisfaction with retail clinics.)

Role

The Little Clinic uses a third party electronic medical record (EMR), which serves as the repository for all clinical information about the patient: patient encounters, diagnoses, prescriptions, and clinical tests.  With all of this data residing in one central database, The Little Clinic is able to perform clinical quality assurance, financial analyses, and marketing research.
