Alaska Natives in urban, rural, and remote areas. Population base is 47,000 Alaska Natives and American Indians living in Anchorage and surrounding area and 10,000 living in 55 remote villages. The geographical service area covers 150,0000 miles in Alaska, spanning from the Kenai Peninsula to the Aleutian Pribolofs Islands in the Bering Sea to the interior of Alaska in McGrath to Anchorage and the Matanuska and Susitna Valley.
Southcentral Foundation (SCF) is an Alaska Native owned not-for-profit healthcare system located in Anchorage, Alaska under the tribal authority of Cook Inlet Region, Inc. SCF provides a broad spectrum of health and related services including primary medical care, dentistry, behavioral health including residential and day treatment programs, complementary medicine, traditional healing, and home based services, and education. It also jointly owns and manages the Alaska Native Medical Center, which includes a 150-bed hospital providing inpatient, specialty and tertiary medical services, with the Alaska Tribal Health Consortium. The Alaska Native Medical Center is a Magnet-designated hospital.
